Saver Systems - DEFY

Saver Systems is the manufacturer of the highly successful DEFY Original Deck and Log Finish, as well as DEFY Epoxy Fortified Finish, DEFY UV-Resistant Clear Exterior and DEFY Clear interior finish.  
Growing demand for a high performance water based wood finish to protect decks, log homes, fences, and a variety of exterior wood applications led to the development of these wood finish lines by Saver Systems. 
With the addition of cleaners and preservatives for wood, Saver Systems is now able to offer consumers a complete line of water repellents and restoration products to protect and preserve most exterior surfaces, including wood, block, concrete, and masonry.

All of the DEFY wood stains meet the Green Performance Standards of the Master Painters Institute (MPI) which takes into account performance and environmental friendliness in light of the latest environmental regulations.

DEFY Epoxy Fortified Wood Stain penetrates wood pores to block out water and provide long-lasting protection from weather damage.
DEFY Epoxy Fortified is a high performance semi-transparent finish that prevents the damaging effects of water, fungi, and UV radiation on exterior wood. 
Excellent penetration helps eliminate surface buildup and peeling.
Testing says to expect 6-18 months additional time between recoats when using DEFY Epoxy Fortified vs. DEFY original.

Note: The "wet" color of DEFY Epoxy Wood Stain has a cloudy/milky appearance that dries to a beautiful semi-transparent finish. 
Note: Due to the synthetic resins that lessen the chance of the finish itself being a "food" source for the mold and mildew, DEFY has a lower level of fungicides added that most other exterior finishes (this is why many people are comfortable using it on the interior). .  

Maintenance: You'll know it's time to refinish by checking to see if finish is allowing moisture to be absorbed by the wood within a couple of seconds. (You test this by "flicking" some water onto the surface of the wood. If the water drops soak into the wood within a second or two, then it's time to recoat).

Use On: Interior or exterior wood surfaces including: wood siding, log homes, decks, fences, shakes, shingles, outdoor wood furniture, pressure-treated and all other natural wood surfaces. 
Features: Superior UV protection, highly transparent, water repellent, weather resistant, breathable.
Application: Use brush, roller, or hand pump sprayer depending on the application and circumstances. (in all cases back brush). Apply first coat to saturation and brush product into surface working out all drips, puddles, or areas of overspray before dry. Apply a second coat between 20 minutes and 2 hours after first coat. Do Not allow complete drying between coats.
Coverage: With two coats, one gallon of DEFY Epoxy Fortified will cover approximately 100-150 sq. ft. per gallon, depending on wood texture and porosity.

DEFY Deck Stain for Hardwoods is a synthetic, semi-transparent finish specifically formulated for use on Cedar, Mahogany, Redwood, and other dense or difficult to penetrate woods. Works well on composite woods

Excellent penetration helps eliminate surface buildup and peeling.

Note: Due to the synthetic resins that lessen the chance of the finish itself being a "food" source for the mold and mildew, DEFY has a lower level of fungicides added that most other exterior finishes (this is why many people are comfortable using it on the interior). In rainy climates we recommend adding Mildewcide additive.

Driftwood Gray and Redwood not available in Deck Stain

DEFY UV-Resistant Clear Wood Finish is great for use where you don't want to change the basic natural       color of the wood. For decks, logs, wood siding and fence, UV-Resistant Clear Wood finish is a high performance, penetrating finish that helps prevent the destructive effects of water, fungi, and UV radiation on exterior wood. 
With its water-based, epoxy fortified synthetic resin, this product is able to penetrate deeply into wood fibers, providing protection from the graying effects of UV radiation. It dries to a clear finish with little or no effect on the original color of the wood.
The water based epoxy resins (VOC compliant), give added bonding "power" between finish and wood.

DEFY UV-Resistant Clear Wood Finish can be used on interior or exterior wood surfaces including: wood siding, log homes, decks, fences, shake shingles, outdoor wood furniture, pressure-treated and all other natural wood surfaces.

Application: Saturate wood with two coats for maximum protection. Apply first coat to saturation and brush product into surface working out all drips, puddles, or areas of overspray before product dries. Apply a second coat between 20 minutes and 2 hours after the first application. Do not allow complete drying between coats. 

Coverage: With two coats, one gallon of DEFY UV-Resistant Clear Wood Finish will cover approximately 100-150 sq. ft., depending on wood texture and porosity.

Note: Although DEFY UV-Resistant Clear is made from the same resin base as the DEFY Epoxy Fortified finish, it uses 2 UV inhibitors instead of pigments.  These UV inhibitors do not last as long as the pigmented DEFY Epoxy Fortified finishes.  Fence board tests have shown 12-18 months between re-coats.

Over application may cause a slightly tacky finished result. Some species of wood may darken slightly.

Many customers have asked about mixing the UV Resistant Clear with one of the pigmented DEFY Epoxy Fortified finishes to create a custom, lighter color.  You can do this but keep in mind that you have reduced the concentration of pigments in your mix and you may need to re-coat more frequently.  You can also use the UV Resistant Clear as a maintenance "topcoat" over any of the DEFY Epoxy Fortified finishes.

Product Data

DEFY Interior Finish is the new generation of AcraClear interior finish.
It is a durable, non-yellowing, acrylic based protective log home and wood finish formulated for interior use. It is fast drying, nonflammable, and has very little odor. Beautifies and protects interior wood from common household chemicals, grease, water, scuffing and abrasion. Product helps prevent fine dust penetration and makes cleaning easier. 

To routinely clean surfaces protected with DEFY interior finish, damp wipe with soap and water, window cleaner, or mild detergent. 

Dries clear. Suitable for interior of logs and timber frames, furniture, trim paneling, doors, cabinets and any other interior wood surface. Can be used over natural wood or woods stained with water-based and oil-based stains.  (Do not apply over sanding sealer). For kiln dried or fully seasoned logs/wood only. In satin or gloss finishes.

Coverage: First coat 200-300 sq. ft. per gallon depending on wood texture and porosity. Each additional coat is 400-500 sq. ft. per gallon. Sand with 220 grit grit sandpaper and remove all sanding dust between coats. Two to three coats recommended.
